What is a BollyCat?

| | Comments (7)

A BollyCat is an Bollywood movie that has been "inspired by" (as it's creators would put it) by a foreign movie, which most of the time means Hollywood. Also, 99.99% of the time the original content is not mentioned "officially" and neither paid for the rights of use.

The word actually is a masala mix of the words Bollywood and Copycat.

Bollycat is a site by a Pakistani loser, hell bent on slinging mud on India in order to cover up the deficiencies of his native Pakistan.

There is no mention of Pakistani film plagiarism which is rampant and even more blatant than Bollywood.

Why does a Pakistani find exposing Indian plagiarism more compelling than exposing Pakistani plagiarism? Jealous of India's prosperity are we?

Put your efforts into developing the Pakistani economy and get rid of your great Dictator, then you won't be jealous anymore.

Typical Pakistani website...

Seriously, most of Pakistani web presence is comprised of websites claiming to "expose Indian lies" etc. etc. While conveniently glossing over the indiscretions of Pakistan. Why is there no mention of Pakistani film plagiarism?

...and people wonder why the IT industry is booming in India and not in its nearest neighbor Pakistan. The simple reason behind this is it that any Pakistani would rather create a website to spread his hate towards India instead of creating a honest useful and truthful website. While Indian IT professionals become millionaires overnight their Pakistani counterparts pursue their obsession with India and achieve absolutely nothing, bollycat.com being an apt example.

People sometimes try to keep themselves busy, atleast they pretend so, as you must have heard "Khaali dimaag shaitan ka ghar!" (I hope you understand other than English). In no way am I trying to defend Bollywood, but I am having a grievance against Pakistan too. Well what about the legendary band "Junoon" ? No plagiarism I believe, superb performers, but Pakistan went after their asses for quite a while (it chases its own people down the gutter), precisely to the point of no return; and yes, it is always said that "Plagiarism also needs brains." - "Nakal ke liye bhee akal chahiye!" and WITHOUT this plagiarism only Bollywood has given some better(and to your sheer horror--ORIGINAL) films, some superb plots that even Hollywood cannot dream of--well, how's this? Can Hollywood recreate the anguish of "Deewar"(Amitabh Bacchan, Shashi Kapoor, Nirupa Rai)? The Modus Vivendi of "Anand"? What about the frolic of "Chupke Chupke" and "Golmaal"? (Have you watched all this? I bet you don't do things right!) Well, thanks but no thanks, because we do not need your enlightenment! In due course of time, we will discover it all for ourselves. And if you are so desperate, please do not trouble others for their research work on movies (ISN'T IT A SHAME THAT YOU ARE ASKING THEM TO WATCH MORE HINDI MOVIES? WHAT AN IRONY!), you may hire plenty of men in your country(all free) and sit to do the job, do not spread the crap all over, it will only backfire, Right? And yes, one last word. When what I want is sheer(you may call it cheap or whatever but that does mean that you have watched it yourself) entertainment, I will prefer a decent Bollywood flick(copy is no problem) over seriously genuine but absolutely rotten and bullcrap movies like Terminator3, Jeepers Creepers or Matrix Revolutions.....(the list is endless)!!!

As a Pakistani, I disagree with the above comments on Pakistan's not-booming IT industry, as it actually currently is booming (GET YOURE FACTS STRAIGHT).
Regardless, Bollywood serves a socioeconomic function in copying foreign films because: majority of Indian film studios cannot afford to pay royalties to foreigners, mainly because the Indian exchange rate is too manipulated to reflect the true PPP of the Indian population. CIA says that Indian rupee is worth 19% of what it should be worth based on what it can buy.
Secondly, Bollycatting is due to the fact that the poor people can not really afford to legally purchase a foreign movie ticket in India, and so instead opt for the cheaper Indian flick. It is actually good that the screenplay artists are copying old flicks and recasting them into current Indian society, as the socioeconomic trends that some foreign flicks highlight have no other way of being mentioned in the Indian cinema.
Frankly, Bollycatting create a diversity of perception in the masses of India, which helps them to not be as dumb as US masses, or as naive as Chinese masses.
