3 Deewarein a bollycat of The Shawshank Redemption

| | Comments (6)

The Shawshank Redemption [1994]"3 Deewarein" (Three Walls) has a very strong Shawshank feel in the first 20 to 30 mins when the film starts. Right from the interviewing of Nagesh Kukunoor for parole to the time when Naseeruddin Shah arrives at the jail. They even copied the shot where Tim Robbins is looking up at the prison entrance.
3 Deewarein [2003]
Viv adds that it's a 'neat' lift by Mr. Nagesh Kukunoor, who's also the film's director.

Indian writes in that Nagesh Kukunoor directed few good flicks but this one is the exact scene-to-scene copy of Morgan Freeman charactered 'The Shawshank Redemption'.

This is absurd, both the movies are my most favourite ones and I've seen both of them atleast 20 times. There is no similarity between the two, tum to yaar chutiya banane pe aa gaye ho public ko. Kam se kam picture to dekh liya karo.

I watched both Shawshank and 3 Deewarein bacbk to back and to my knowledge i could not relate the movies the way u have done it. The story line is entirely different and hence, i would request your team to have some better sense of reviewing/relating movies. Why is your team so hell bend on relating every bollywood movie to a hollywood one? !! And I agree with Amit to all extents..

This is fantastically absurd. I have watched shawshank redemotion over 5 times and 3 deewarein thrice .Sorry to say I could not find a single similarity in the storyline or imagery except the fact that both films are based around a prison. Any body who says that the films have been copied from one another, should have their heads re-examined

What the hell! These movies are not even close to being similar. Since the stories revovle around some guys in prison, you would just say they are copies! You guys are pure dumb, sirs.

Yes it does have strong shades. Not a copy but a definite inspiration.
