For Information The Parent Trap was a copy from an old tamil movie called "Kuzhanthaiyum Deivamum" translated as Child and God.
Actors were Gemini Ganesan, Kutty Padmini (As the child in a double role) This if i remember right was way back in 1950's.

This movie (Parent trap) was a movie made in 1961 but based on a german novel by Erich Kästner called Das doppelte Lottchen, released in 1949 in English as Lottie and Lisa.

So Kuzhanthaiyum theivamum (Tamil version) is probably based on the novel.
