Kaante a bollycat of Reservoir Dogs
A fairly commonly known BollyCat. "Kaante" (Thorns) is about a gang who have this plot to rob big money from a bank. But the episode goes bloody and they start doubting about one of them being a cop.
Totally uncool, and there's no Mr. Pink who refuses to tip.

Love how this one is so blatant that they even steal dialogue line for line from the original.
There's a certain audacity and arrogance in Bollywood not seen in many industries. The industry being up in arms about Dre stealing a beat, for instance, when so many of their movies steal from western films.
That said, I sort of like the fuck-you attitude.
Kaante also has a lot of "inspiration" from the USUAL SUSPECTS. The way the five individuals meet in jail and decide to work together after being picked up for "stealing a truck" is the exact same premise for the the quintet of low lifes that team up in the American classic.
Reservoir dogs itself is a lift from the Hong Kong Movie 'City on Fire'
The entire prison sequence in Kaante is pretty much lifted frame by frame from the usual suspects.
sanjay gupta happily steals from heat and the killing also. reservoir dogs is basically a remake of the killing (1956).
Reservoir Dogs is not a remake of The Killing (i am assuming that you are referring to the Stanley Kubrick's 'Killing'). Also, contrary to what someone poined out earlier, RD is not a remake of the hong kong movie, just borrowes a few sequences (if i remember corectly just one) from it.
even the songs are copied yaar. sandeep chowta is bollymusic cat
To clear things up a bit between ammad and arvind . . . On the DVD of RD, QT talks about the major influences on his writing of RD. He lists Lionel White (author of “Clean Break” upon which The Killing is based) as an influence. QT claims that he has a “sibling rivalry” with Kubrick which is why he avoids giving any nods in Kubrick’s direction. In reference to RD, though, QT admits “This is my ‘The Killing’.” Even so, anxious to be considered original, QT denies that he was lifting from the movie. Kaante follows suit, exemplifying the QT way and the Bollycat way.
Sorry guys, but Reservoir Dogs is a remake of "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" (1974). There were such characters like Mr Blue, Mr. Green, Mr. Gray, Mr. Brown; bank robbery and relatively similar ending.
Btw, I like Kaante, but dislike American remakes of French comedies. All their humour seems to vanish and only a blank copy is left.
Far out man ... first of look at our bollywood, stealing ideas was one thing but having a name that sounds similar to Hollywood. This is insane. And as for 'Kaante' its blatent copy of other movies, why go jumping from one movie to another. Inspirationa and coping is different.
it's funny because it seems like the movie bothers everyone but QT. honestly i thought the movie sucked i mean kaante except from AB< sunjay, and manjrekar or watever his name is. also i think QT is a sick bastart therefore can deliver some master pieces. like so, he is the type of mother F**ker who wont give a shit if someone copies his work. he wants his work to be known which means showing it to people who cant understand english too. RD was a master piece. and it had to be shared with those who cant understand english. honestly i believe that it misses some part of rD that is very essential like Mr. Pink. there was a uniqueness to the fact that they didnt know eachother much prior to the looting. and the reason they called eachother by colors. plus i have to add that the lack of mr. pink's character is disappointing. also it mite have been a difficult character to play for a lot of these unexperienced actors in bollywood. i just dont think mahesh manjrekar could have played two roles
Sandeep Chowta has nothing to do with Kaante.

Of course, Kaante was taken from Reservoir Dogs. But I think, this one is a nice copy for the director Sanjay Gupta's treatment with this film. Despite having songs and dances, Kaante does not have the typical Bollywood masala and overacting bullshit that Bollywood movies have. The tension and suspense elements in this movie are good. Technically brilliant film indeed!!
