The protagonist works for this mob boss whom he witnesses killing the brother of his lover. Now he can either help her and testify against the mob or risk losing his sweetie.

Ghulam is indeed a rip off of On the Waterfront whether you like it or not. Just try and remember that it does retain its entertainment value inspite of it being a copy.

It is a brilliant copy of Marlin Brando classic "on the waterfront". No offense to anyone. I love Gulam and I think it is one of the best movies from Aamir Khan.

If you go through the most famous classic confrontation in the car where Marlin tells his brother about his failed boxing career as his brother's boss bet on him to lose the fight.."I could have been the contender...I could have had the class"!..the scene is totally there in Ghulam when Amir asks his brother why he was not there for him.why he didnt fight for him..

The end was not that dramatic in "On The Waterfront" but it is all there.
