Ek Ruka Hua Faisla a bollycat of 12 Angry Men

| | Comments (6)

This is a BollyCat where the Indian producers didn't bother with a reality-check at all, and the whole idea of the movie is flawed. The movie, just like the original, revolves around 12 jurors deliberating over an alleged murder case against a juvenille boy accused of killing his own father. What's wrong with that? There is no jury system in India! (Although there was one when the British ruled the country.)

12 Angry Men [1957]As our submitter Oyeshi explains, the story revolves around "a dissenting juror in a murder trial slowly manages to convince the others that the case is not as obviously clear as it seemed in court."

But of course the Indian "creators" deny any wrong doing, and the director's official website mentions this project with a special mention of the writer Mannu Bhandari for a "quite uniquely written" story.

Thanks to our other submitters: Cool, Bunty, Pankaz, Mayank Ajmera and Krishna for calling this a "chakaas copy".

Note: This title was a "straight-to-tv" production, and never made it to the big screen.

The idea behind this film was not a fake one. In india, after british rule also, there was Jury system. We stopped that a long back when there was a famous case of a military officer killing his own wife. I dont remember the name of case. But Jury system was there and film has reality base of it.

India had a jury system till 1959.It all depends on when the movie was made

This movie is essentially very REAL. It is about how our prejudices and biases prevent us from looking at situations objectively and correctly. How great the costs can be of our misjudgements due to prejudices and biases! The movie also talks about the value of a human's life. Definately watch this movie.
