Ek Hasina Thi a bollycat of Double Jeopardy
Not a total rip off, but definitely lots of parallels...
Guy frames nice girl.
Girl goes to jail.
Girl becomes a hard ass while in prison.
Girl comes out looking for revenge.
Urmila is a good substitute for Ashley Judd.
On a side note, compare the cover art for the two DVDs.

ek hasina this is definately is not a copy of double jeopardy. u people without watching movies start giving unfair judgement atleast check ur facts.
and one thing more, perhaps PAKIS dont know that film 'Notting Hill" is plagarised from film "ABHINETRI" in 70s.
LOL. EHT is hardly a copy of DJ. Desperate measures from you people.
I appreciate the idea of putting copies. But I would be happy if you take this movie of the list. It is not even 10% similar to Double Jeopardy. I saw both movies. Double Jeopardy sucked big time, but I consider this movie to be one of the best handled in the recent time.
Ek hasina thi was also partially inspired by the 1982 female prison pic the concrete jungle.
I really wondered if the movie such as this could be without any "inspirations". If all you could come up with is "Double Jeopardy" as the source, it just goes to increase my admiration for the movie.
c'mon,
this script is immemorialized by sydney sheldon in "the other side of midnight"
you are going to find parallels of it everywhere. i wouldn't say its a copy, and certainly not from double jeopardy
Double jeopardy - comparison between india and United states Constitution
Like ALOK (I'm assuming he is not a PAKI like vivek wrote. Wonder who the actual hater is) said, definitely some parallels. I would say that EHT is FAR better then double jeopardy. I thought DJ was a weak movie.
As for Notting Hill, this is the synopsis for 'Abhinetri' from imdb and I'd ask folks to take a look at them to see where the plagarism took place: "A chance meeting between an Assistant Scientist, Shekar, and an established stage dancer and singer, Anjana, results in love. While Shekar has a mother who lives separately, Anjana has been orphaned at an early age. Shekar's mom approves of Anjana, and both get married. Anjana stops her involvement in dancig and singing, and both spent the next several months on relative harmony. Then Anjana finds that Shekar is spending more and more time in the laboratory than with her, and she decides to take up dancing and singing, which does not auger well with Shekar. Arguments ensue, and both decide to live separately. When Shekar's mom comes to visit Shekar, both he and Anjana compromise to live together to fool his mother. Will they succeed in pulling wool over her eyes?". Sure, there are parallels in that an actress falls in love with a regular guy but ummm, this has been happening in Hollywood (and bollywood) since the beginning of those two institutions.
Obviously, some Indian director's have managed to pull the wool over some of the audiences eyes for a LONG time. :)
It wasn't a rip-off of DJ ..
@Aditya..
I am sure you havn't read "the other side of midnight" or "If tomorrow comes" for that matter since the latter is the one, EHT is inspired from .. And i don't think its as wrong as others, only that the novel and the novelist could have at least been credited..
But who am i expecting from ... even the industry's name is not original..
