BollyCat.com follows the 3 things that sell Bollywood: Songs, Plagiarism & Sex. Because when scantilly clad women dance to a Bollywood song in a movie that have most of it's story lifted from a Hollywood flick, you get Bollywood! And yes, we also randomly engage in masala gossip.

career is largely enthused with Hollywood rip-offs and after countless
failures, this release simply adds to the list. It's a classical
example where a filmmaker's amateurish attempt of rehashing couple of
Hollywood flicks has gone berserk. 'Speed' is a shameful imitation from
Hollywood's fast paced action packed thriller 'Cellular' in its first
half, while its plot and climax in the second half get its inspiration
from another Hollywood hit 'Nick of Time' (which was earlier, rehashed with mediocre results in Shahrukh Khan's 'Badshah').

Firstly, why the film was
titled "Speed" when there is no relevance of word "speed" either with
its plot, theme or characters? After illogically envisaged 'Red', it's
another flick from Vikram Bhatt which has English title to lure urban
viewers but shows no relevance with the subject or concept of the film.

Based on these numbers, we can safely conclude that the movie is a mish-mosh of the two originals. Additionally one person suggested that the father of the bride character in MSK was based on Steve Martin's role in Father of the Bride. Being a David Dhavan movie and the fact that the Steve Martin character and Robert De Niro's Jack in Meet the Parents shared similarities of their own, we don't really doubt that.

Anyway, the protagonist is our BollyCat definitely has an "anger" problem. But we guess what really makes this a BollyCat is the final scene where the guy proposes to his girlfriend at a <strike>baseball</strike> cricket game. But according to our submitters, there's plenty of stuff in between directly lifted from Anger Management. Remember the scene where Ben Stiller breaks the urn at the dinner table? Well the same scene is in MSK.

We'll summarize this by quoting one of our submitters, "Take the story from 'Anger Management', add a few comedy scenes from 'Meet the parents', include a few beautiful and well-shot songs and what to you have? 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge'."

The story is about a woman who receives an eye transplant that allows her to see into the supernatural world. Here's what one of our submitters, Nitin Kumar Gupta, had to say about this BollyCat:

"Frame by frame, scene by scene, dialog by dialog copy. Even the characters have been made up to look as close to the original movie characters as possible. Small props like staplers haven't been spared and even the smallest jokes have been copied. The movie looks like someone did a Hindi dubbing of the original and replaced the faces of the actors using a computer. They have shamelessly given themselves credit for plot, screenplay, dialogues, art design, music etc when everything has been lifted from the original Hong Kong movie. A disgrace to Indian movie makers and cinema."

Joining the long list of films based on sex-workers will be 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag' that is slated for Friday release.

The film, being produced by Bollywood's biggest dream merchants Yash Raj Films, hopes to push the envelope further by portraying the life of a small town girl who willingly chooses sex trade as a career.

Hindi cinema's interpretation of the so-called oldest profession in the world has been ever evolving. While earliest films like 'Pyaasa' painted a picture of abject tragedy, films like 'Umrao Jaan', 'Pakeezah' and 'Devdas' depicted courtesans as women with refined sense of music and poetry. Their exploitation was often glossed over and they came across as tragic, gorgeous women of taste who sacrificed their lives for the men they loved.

Shoma A. Chatterji, author of 'Woman: A Study of the Portrayal of Women in Indian Cinema', explains that the virtual domination of male filmmakers in Bollywood then had meant that patriarchy and markets dictated how sex-workers and the politics of prostitution are projected in the Hindi film industry.

More recently, Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Chandni Bar', Sudhir Mishra's 'Chameli', Manisha Koirala's 'Market' Deepak Shivdasani's 'Julie' and Kalpana Lazmi's 'Chingaari' have tried to demystify and deglamourise the lives of sex workers.

In 'Chandini Bar', Tabu performed the sexy dance sequences inside the club much like any mechanical, routine job and worked hard to educate her child. Kareena Kapoor in 'Chameli' was a foul-mouthed young woman, who is cynical about relationships but knows how to invest her hard-earned money for a secure future. For all her curtness she still has a soft side to her as she tries to educate a young boy and prevents him from taking to vices like smoking.

Partner... Why not Ajay, Kumar or Salman? Wouldn't that be more befitting for this Hitch copy? Anyway, as far the two movies are concerned, they both follow a dating

Added is the usual pinch of song and dance according to taste.

But there's another thing that's seems unworldly for this case: Hollywood is actually suing - or thinking about suing - the makers of Partner. We believe this is a major shift in Hollywood's policy towards unofficial Bollywood remakes. And the biggest reason is Bollywood's ever growing market overseas. Think about it, Sony would make much more money (they're making nothing now!) if the the producers of Partner had actually paid Sony to do a remake, or better yet Sony Pictures India had done it on it's own? Shilpa played Tom Hanks's part, Salman Khan was Antonio Banderas, while Abhishek played Denzel's part. Philadelphia follows a man with AIDS who is fired by a conservative law firm because of his condition, who then hires a homophobic small time lawyer as the only willing advocate for a wrongful dismissal suit. But like a few other BollyCats, the sexes have been changed here.

Kalhonaaho01 adds, "The storylines share their differences but this is one of the most blatant cases of plagarism I had even seen. get this, 'Phir Milenge' uses one of the Deleted Scenes from the Philadelphia DVD where the AIDS carrying protagonist tries to put down some reasonable rules for dropping the lawsuit to no avail.

Despite the "Aag" debacle, Ram Gopal Verma is still one of the most respected directors in Bollywood. But his bouts of unreasonable behaviour have irked some unit members of his latest film "Go".

A member of the unit said on condition of anonymity: "Ram Gopal Verma used to arrive on the sets late. Then he would say that he wanted to discuss a few things with leading lady Nisha Kothari. The two would enter Nisha's make-up van and come out only after 2-3 hours. This happened for 4 to 5 consecutive days, resulting in a delay in shooting of the climax of the movie by four days." The delay used to disturb everybody on the sets as all preparations had to be kept on hold for hours. Each delay would add to the previous day's delay and put more and more pressure on the cast and crew of the film, which has newcomer Gautam Gupta opposite Nisha

The source added: "Every time RGV used to disappear into Nisha's make-up van, things would get worse outside as Gautam and the rest of the unit members would be ready for the shot. Reportedly, Ramuji and Nisha's parleys haunted their shoot at Goa too. "Everybody had then dismissed it as a one-time incident which won't recur. But then it did, not once, but many times," the source lamented. Nisha has been one of Ram Gopal Verma's favourite heroines. Rumours were also doing the rounds that Verma is picking and dropping Nisha home a bit too often. What's cooking between the mentor and his discovery?

This is a rare scene in Bollywood, and it actually might be a first. Mahima Chaudry looks pretty mad in this clip, and she's probably headed over to take revenge on the bad guys for killing her family or boy friend. But this is not your regular Hollywood-style pushup, it's a tamed down lower-your-collar version of it. And here's something we didn't know: according to a comment on the MetaCafe video page, she's a "call girl" @ $1,200.00 a night... not bad!
